Dan Saffer notes the passing of Robert Adler.
“Interaction design lost a pioneer last week when Robert Adler died in Boise, Idaho on Thursday. The name probably doesn’t ring a bell (there’s not even a wikipedia entry on him), although it should. Adler, along with Eugene Polley, designed The Space Command, which was the first wireless television remote control.”

I didn’t know who’d invented the remote control and you would have thought there’d be more information about him, given where his invention has gone and what it has enabled.
Amazing, really, that such a small thing could have had a profound impact on how we live. Not all in a good way, of course.
